path:Position Summary: The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
of the LSU Health New Orleans is seeking a fellowship-trained
Urogynecologic surgeon for an academic faculty position at the rank
of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor
(non-tenure, clinical track). Urogynecology Division Directorship
may be available for the appropriately qualified individual.The
primary focus of the Urogynecologist will be the clinical care of
urogynecologic patients, supervision and teaching of urogynecology
academic fellows, ob-gyn residents, and medical students, and
conducting of clinical research. In addition, participation in
research and scholarly activities is expected. Clinical
responsibilities will include urogynecologic office practice,
office-based procedures, and inpatient and outpatient
urogynecologic surgery. The successful applicant will demonstrate
an aptitude for and dedication to medical education including
direct teaching of medical students, residents and fellows. Full
participation in all LSU OBGYN Departmental activities is
expected.Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized care for patients with pelvic floor
disorders, including pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence,
and other urogynecologic conditions.
- Perform both surgical and non-surgical treatments, including
minimally invasive techniques and complex reconstructive
procedures.
- Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in
clinical and academic settings, including hands-on surgical
training and didactic instruction.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including clinical research,
quality improvement initiatives, and potentially leading
multicenter trials or contributing to national guidelines.
- Participate in departmental teaching activities and continuing
medical education programs.
- Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to provide
comprehensive, patient-centered care.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of
urogynecology curricula for trainees.
- Share in the call schedule with other faculty members,
providing coverage for Urogynecologic emergencies.Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board Certified/Eligible in OBGYN and Urogynecology
Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS).
- Licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana before date of
hire.
- Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, teaching, and
research in the field of urogynecology.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a
commitment to team-based care and collaboration.Preferred
Qualifications:
- A record of peer-reviewed publications or involvement in funded
research.
- Experience in curriculum development, program leadership, or
academic administration.
- Interest in or experience with health services research,
